In - Company Workshops
As part of our program of promoting good employment practices and preventing disputes from arising in the workplace, we conduct a number of in-house workshops led by our experienced Principal Consultant. They are designed to raise awareness of relevant legislation and to promote and develop good practices. The subjects covered reflect Industrial Relations Solutions Ltd's experience in dealing with employment issues through its advisory and support services.
The following workshops, which are designed to meet client needs, focus on requirements of The Employment Rights Act 2012:
Conducting Employment Investigations
This workshop is designed to cover the main issues which need to be addressed when conducting an employment investigation, for example, in relation to alleged misconduct. Case law has demonstrated that the investigation process will be subject to a reasonableness test if the issue eventually goes to the Employment Rights Tribunal.
Disciplinary Hearings
The purpose of the workshop is to identify, understand and then apply the principles of engaging in successful disciplinary hearings. Also to appreciate the influence of employment law on the conduct of of the Hearing itself.
Unfair Dismissal - the Law and Practice
Employees have the right to claim unfair dismissal. Do you know who can and who cannot claim unfair dismissal? Do you know about the statutory procedures and good practices in handling dismissal situations? Do you know the remedies for unfair dismissal? The workshop provides Managers with detailed guidance and good practices.
Dealing with discipline and Grievances
Do you have the knowledge, skill and confidence to deal with discipline and grievance issues? This workshop highlights good practice in dealing with grievances and discipline.
Conducting Performance Appraisals
Employees dismissed on the grounds of inadequate performance and who subsequently complain of unfair dismissal sometimes indicate in their applications that they have received little or no indication of alleged unsatisfactory performance while in employment.
The workshop highlights the importance of Appraisal and indicates to managers that Employees who receive a poor performance appraisal result should be given a reasonable chance to improve.
Managing Absence from Work
The managers have to be realistic: they can't expect no absence at all during the working year. However, they can establish some sound boundaries of behaviour for their team regarding absence. This workshop helps managers strike a balance between supporting the genuine employees during their absence and encouraging full attendance from everyone. It also increases a manager's awareness of the various tools and strategies that will help them manage absence more effectively in the workplace.
